Where this started

The proudest piece of work I produced was my dissertation. Academic validation did not satisfy me, I wanted to make a real life impact, not be defined by a number, although that number got me a degree I am proud of, I relish in the thought my work can have a greater affect.

“How to victims of sexual violence navigate and narrative their experiences on online platforms”, within this I found nothing new, but raising awareness to the fact. During the process of my research I met some amazing women along the way, learning the importance of collective womanhood. My dissertation supervisor, and my inspiration to the piece, my beautiful PHD bestie.

Sexual assault and domestic violence in England is not a new topic. 17% of women reported their experiences. Every woman in my life has a story, a story of a man taking her childhood, her sexuality, her innocence, her femininity. Why should it one moment is allowed to define the rest of our lives?

The victim support system, give them credit where credit is due but why do we turn to private online platforms for example, Reddit. Reddit is one of the most infamous sites for women to share their experiences. And when I say women I mean all those who identify as women and non-binary folk are also included. There is no cue to the disease of men however, forms of microfeminism are my favourite part of pushing back. I dont relish in the phrase taking power back as that assumes men have all the power or deserve to be put on that pedastol making the issue worse.

Forms of microfeminsim I’ve been enjoying is:

• Man spreading in public spaces (even with knees touching as men dont seem bothered by this??)
• Calling men accessories
• Telling a man good job when he does something basic
• Lat raising 10kg putting the other hypermasculine men to shame

And id like to get more ideas from you guys!!

My form of microfeminism this week is to allow men to mansplain so that they have to keep repeating themsevles.
